Hello Kathy!
We decided to rename Bhut (Essie x Beo) 'Walter', or Wally for short. He's been a delightful handful, and has done a great job of (mostly) sleeping through the night. The cat and he have been getting along just fine, playing together. I hope you have a wonderful Christmas, and happy New Year! Hans |
Canto (Essie x Beo 2023) now renamed Sonny is so much fun! He moves well, uses his nose, is super friendly, and "attacks" my leather belt. Just what we hoped for.

My husband and I brought home "Bitsy" from Beo x Rona's April 2023 litter. I just wanted to let you know how grateful we are for her and how we loved working with you as a breeder. Attached is a photo of Bitsy who we now call Rosie. She is doing great and is such a wonderful pup!
Rosie loves other people and dogs, and LOVES to fetch! Not only that, she has been super easy to train and is very well behaved. Thanks again!

Hi Kathy-
I just wanted to reach out to let you know how much we’ve enjoyed adding Kota (Clem of Rona x Beo) to our young family. He’s been the perfect addition for Rylee and I — loves to curl up at our feet, go for walks, and play fetch (even though he’s more interested in the stick part of the Chuck-It than the tennis ball right now).
He is sweet to every stranger he meets, and has already made great friends in the neighborhood, at the vet, and with his big brother Iggy, my parents’ pup from your December ‘22 litter.
Jack
We love our Kota (Rona X Beo)! Kathy was fantastic to work with — providing us with several updates along the way, and making sure we knew about the personalities of the litter to help aid our selection. Now we have a great new friend for our growing family. Highly recommend!
Jack
My son Ryan's choice of Parker (Essie x Beo) was an excellent one. Parker is a loving puppy doing puppy stuff, but is not hyperactive.
I babysat Parker for the first 3 weeks we had him and I loved every minute of it!! Ryan picked up Parker each day after work...JoAnn

Maisy (Essie x Beo) is doing great! She is fully kennel trained, has gone hunting a few times, and LOVES playing in the water. Maisy is dog friendly and doesn’t mind small kids. She isn’t scared of loud noises like thunder/gun shots.
Maisy does resource guard high value treats but has gotten much better since being a puppy. We have been working on that.

Hi Kathy,
Just wanted to say Bailey (Livia of Rona x Beo) has been a joy for us! She is so smart! It took about 10 minutes for her to learn sit and she does it right away. She won’t let us out of her sight for too long which is good because I was worried we would be chasing her! She lets us know when she needs to go out with her bells or coming to us and putting her paw on us! Of course retrieving is her favorite and she has learned to drop the ball in our hands. She is
so loving to everyone she meets. Hunting training starts soon! We cannot thank you enough for being such an awesome and honest breeder and we appreciated your weekly updates. Cannot wait to pick up our next one from you in November from Essie and Beo!
Denise
I thought I would give you a little update since it’s been over a week
since we took him home!
Murphy (Rona x Beo 2023) is doing fantastic! He is absolutely the cutest thing we’ve ever seen in our lives and definitely giving us a run for our
money!!!

Hi Kathy,

Autumn (Rona x Beo Christmas 2022) is acclimating well to her new home! Our Basset Hound Rose loves her and brings her toys. The cats are even doing well with her! She hasn’t had any accidents so far, and she slept well last night. We are so in love with her!
Angie
Angie
Luck (Rona x Risio) has been a great dog! I cannot thank you enough for her. I have six boys ranging in age from 3 to 13 years old. She is sweet and gentle with my little boys, but she also has a lot of energy for my big boys. The right photo is of her first pheasant hunt! Jamie
Hi Kathy!
We LOVE Maple (Essie x Beo 2022) and kept the sweet name you gave her. Maple is now 12.8 pounds, LOVES playing with other puppies, playing with and snuggling with each of us, is very patient with our kitty (who isn't quite ready to play yet, ha!), is great ringing the bell by the door to go potty, enjoys boat rides, and stuffing herself inside her toy bin. :) She is well loved and we just wanted to thank you for her. Thank you again for breeding such lovely and healthy puppies. Nikki

Hi Kathy!
We got Lindy from Risio x Mellilla's 2017 litter.
She is an amazing, fun, & energetic dog! Lindy is incredibly smart and she loves fishing/the water! She still thinks she’s a lap dog, a 60lb lap dog! Haha! She has two, going to be three human siblings with whom she loves playing . She has always been incredibly gentle with them.
We could not picture her anywhere else! Thank you for giving us part of our family!

Kathy,
Riso (retired) is doing great. He is a true golden! He wants to be by me 24/7. He walks without a leash, gets along with any animals we meet, and we never have to worry about him! What a gentle soul! You blessed us again. I didn't think any dog could compare to Phineas, but I was so wrong. We want you to know your dogs are the BEST! So, we thank you again for letting us share the best dogs we could hope for. He does make us laugh so he is true to his name. Risio will sit and look in to my eyes as long as I can talk to him...so loving!

Hi Kathy,
Ten- month-old Sophie is a pheasant hunting machine. Goes all day and you have to make her quit. Runs down pheasants, flushes pheasants, and retrieves like no other. She is a steak of lightning out there. She had a 150 yard retrieve in North Dakota this week and was in 8 foot high corn, but tracked down that bird. Fetched a down bird in the water as well. Stays close very naturally and weaves back and forth, no training on my part. Scents like a 4-5 year old professionally trained dog...pretty much all natural. Very driven, attentive and needs very little correction. Doesn't back down from other dogs. Went head to head with a 90 pound male lab and sent him running. She is only 43 pounds. I have had great Goldens but this one just takes the cake! Thought you'd like to know.
Bill
Kathy...We are so in love with our boy Kingston ("Buckle" - Mellilla x Risio 2018). We took him to our local Farmer’s market yesterday. The girls just held him and were so happy to show him off. People couldn’t help themselves from stopping and asking to pet him. Our hearts are so full. He’s such a good boy. Kelly
Hi Kathy, We purchased a pup (Bella) from your litter that was born last June of Mellilla and Risio. She is extremely smart. Anything we want her to learn we show her about 3 times and she has it. At 14 weeks old she was totally whistle trained. Bella loves other dogs and people. She has an extremely good way of communicating affectionately with us. I just wish we still hunted, as we think she would be a fantastic hunter! Bella loves kids. We have people remark to us all the time how pretty she is. We are so very happy with her and she just keeps getting better and better, showing us more smarts every day. So glad we found her. Thank you! Lynn
Hi Kathleen, Just thought I would give you an update on our dog Gus as he turns a year old. He was the last one in your litter to find a home, and we've certainly given him a happy one! He weighs in at 80 lbs and has a gorgeous fluffy, curly coat. He loves retrieving his tennis ball and would do so for hours. His other favorite activity is playing with our children. I'm convinced he thinks he is one of them. :) He's a happy, very active boy who fits into our family nicely. He shares the house with our 4 yr old goldendoodle whom he adores. We also have a cat that he is dying to play with but kitty is not as interested. He has completed one round of obedience training with more to come. He is definitely a smart boy and aims to please. Hope this finds you and your resident dogs well. Angie |
Hi Kathy,
Just a quick update on our little pup Gandy from last Christmas' litter. He is doing exceptional with obedience - he sits, lays down, stays and comes with just hand signals! Gandy had his hunting debut last weekend for duck opener and did fantastic! He's a pretty small boy, but had no trouble retrieving full sized mallards. He's a real champ, a great family dog above all else. We've been working on his nose so we'll see how he does grouse and pheasant hunting... I'm optimistic. Any litters planned for the future? My mom is in the market for a female pup.
Thanks,
Bailey & AJ

Hi Kathy,
Just giving you a current update on Maia who I purchased from you about a year ago now. She is doing GREAT and getting so big! At about 6 months old she completed her first obedience class with flying colors. A couple of months ago she completed her final hunting and obedience training with ease. Her Trainer, Dale Westerberg, was truly pleased with how well she was able to train and how much ambition and attention she had. He mentioned that he would send anyone seeking a golden retriever to you. He was very pleased, as am I. She has made me very proud. We are hoping to run her in the dog trials in the spring.

Hello Kathy-
My name is Dale Westerberg, my wife and I own Blaine Kennels. For the last 25+ years I have made my living training gundogs. Last year I trained Michelle Laing's golden retriever "Maia". She was such a nice dog I wanted to know where she got her. Maia has everything you want in a golden retriever...good nose, tremendous desire to retrieve, loves the water, I'm sure she is also a wonderful companion. I could go on but you get the picture. Kathy, you bred a very nice golden and I would be happy if you need me as referral for one of your puppies. Feel free to give out my phone number.
Regards, Dale

Hi Kathy! I hope your summer has been going well! We have been staying busy, which is why I completely missed Tessa's birthday this year, but she didn't seem to mind. :) Attached is a photo of her jumping off our dock to retrieve a dummy over the 4th of July. She absolutely LOVES water and boat rides, and is a complete goofball, yet she also knows when it is time to settle down. She lets little kids crawl all over her, and doesn't even chase our chickens we let wander around the yard, although she goes nuts over chipmunks. :) Erica
Hi Kathy! ...We are amazed at how well-behaved he is with the kids, even the baby. He has only had two accidents and seems to be catching on to things so fast. We are all in love :) The boys named him Boone after Daniel Boone. Thank you again for taking such great care of him and letting us be his new family!...Catrena...

Hello Kathy! I wanted to share some pictures and updates on Keziah (retired and rehomed puppies' grandmother). She is so wonderful... a joyful spirit. Keziah is a big hit at Presbyterian Homes where she is a regular visitor. She seems to understand how to approach someone in a walker or wheelchair and she has a calming and friendly presence. Keziah is so adaptable. She seems to adjust right away to the new surroundings. Deb

Hi Kathy,
We absolutely adore Nelle!!!! She is now a great swimmer, loves chewing, sitting in our laps (weighing in at 55 lbs), any kind of attention at all; loves other dogs, car rides, playing fetch, & like a typical golden, she loves life :) While she has her mischievous, trouble-making side, she is becoming more and more obedient every day. We took her up North for some grouse hunting. Needless to say she was totally in her element! Thank you again for our sweet Nelle!! Chelsea & Sam

Hello Kathy,
I have had Keva with me at pharmacy school this whole time. I will graduate in May! She's been the best thing in my life, my pride and joy and companion. She trained with me for my half marathon last summer, and still loves the ball more than anything. Keva is amazing at turning energy on and off, quiet in the house and rambunctious outside.
Thanks! Lindsey

Hello Kathy, We thought you might like a puppy report from Jack (Rivet) after one week at our home. He is doing great and so are we! He learned how to run up and down the carpeted basement stairs this week. He is still sleeping 10 hours at night in his crate in the laundry room. He likes to take 1 to 1.5 hour afternoon naps under the dining room buffet. He loves to be outside and to explore his big back yard so we take him out at least 10 times a day. He can almost run faster than I can. Greg has him retrieving mini-tennis balls and is working on the "come" command with him. He is growing fast and will see our veterinarian on Tuesday for his next shot. We are so impressed with his self-assured, sweet, and tenacious personality. He is everything that we hoped for and more in a pup, and will make a great friend and hunting dog. Thanks again for raising such a great pup for us to enjoy! Your friends, Juliane, Greg, and Jack
Hi Kathy!
I realized the other day that I have not sent you an email in over a year - whew, where does that time get to? Anyway, I hope things are going well! I attached a picture of Tessa with my horse. :) They are best friends and the three of us often go riding together. Last pheasant season Tessa did a phenomenal job, finding and retrieving birds very well. I can't wait to take her again this year! I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer.
Erica
Kathy,
We had Phin (Dash) out hunting this last weekend and thought you would enjoy a picture of his first bird retrieve, at just over 4 months old. He is doing so well and is such a good puppy! I would love for others to see how enthusiastic a hunter he is.
Thank you again for allowing Phin to join our family!

Kathy,
Just wanted to send an update on Phin. As you can see he has become an integral part of our family. He is a great companion to our 12 year old American Water Spaniel. He is the best friend to my oldest son (16) - he spends the majority of time between the two of us, but he still finds time to snuggle and watch movies with my 14 year old. He is about as perfect as any dog I have ever owned (I have owned dogs my entire life)
He has been an integral part of our life during this Covid time (working from home, kids being out of school) - he seems to know when someone needs a little extra attention and seeks that person out and spends time with them.
I think he has become a very handsome golden, he is very easily trained, extremely smart and eager to please.
Just wanted to send you an update on this wonderful pup/dog, and say thank you.

Hello Kathy!!
Figured it had been a while since I've been in touch, and I have a great story about Tessa. We were pheasant hunting in Nebraska last week, and she made probably one of the best retrieves I have ever seen.
We walked a middle section of a 90 acre field, when two roosters got up, and we dropped both of them. After finding the first one for us, Tessa started sniffing around for the second one after being told there was still a downed bird to find. We soon found out that bird still had healthy legs on it because she took off hotter than a pistol on its trail across the field. I followed Tessa for as long as I could, but soon could no longer keep up because of her speed and the thick grass. I continued on in the direction she had been last heading, pausing every so often to listen for her. Sure enough, after some time had passed, I began to hear her returning through the grass and wondered if she had been able to catch up with the bird or if it had gotten away. She got it!!! A very happy and tired dog was bringing to me a LIVE bird that she had finally caught up to, hundreds of yards from where we had started, and had done it all on her own. Can't wait to go again!! Erica
